The Well-Tempered Clavier Complete / Masaaki Suzuki
This is a recording of the complete works of The Well-Tempered Clavier by Masaaki Suzuki, conductor of the Bach Collegium Japan and an excellent organist. There is a gap between 1997 and 2008, probably because he was busy recording the complete cantatas. In a word, the performance is full of fantasy. The ornamented notes played with a crisp touch and the tasteful arpeggios are impressive. It is an extremely orthodox interpretation of Bach, but it is also aggressive in some places.
