Bach: Cantata No. 210 “O holder Tag, erwünschte Zeit” etc. / Carolyn Sampson, Bach Collegium Japan
A secular cantata for the wedding for a soprano solo, written in Lapuzig. Sung solo by Carolyn Sampson. The first aria, “Spielet, ihr beseelten Lieder” is sung after a recitative (accompaniato) and is accompanied by oboe d’amore and string ensemble, and has a gentle atmosphere, but is also a difficult piece with high C#. Following the recitative (secco), the fourth aria “Ruhet hie, matte Töne” is sung by oboe d’amore and violin obbligato, and is a truly sweet and graceful piece. After the recitative, the sixth aria “Schweigt, ihr Flöten, schweigt, ihr Töne” is sung in flauto traverso obbligato. Following the recitative, the eighth aria “Großer Gönner, dein Vergnügen” is sung again with oboe d’amore and string accompaniment. This is followed by the recitative (accompaniato) and the final aria “Seid beglückt”. The other piece in the coupling is the famous coffee cantata “Schweigt stille, plaudert nicht”. Stefan Schreckenberger sings the bass. #baroque #bach #cantata #片山俊幸
