Bach: Cantata No. 87 “Bisher habt ihr nichts gebeten in meinem Namen” / Nikolaus Harnoncourt
The bass aria “Bisher habt ihr nichts gebeten in meinem Namen” begins with an imitative theme by two violins and viola (with oboes in unison). After a cadence, the bass begins to sing the same motive. The piece is short but typical of Bach. The alto recitative is followed by the alto aria “Vergib, o Vater, unsre Schuld,” in which the two oboes da caccia play sigh pattern above the dispersed chords of basso continuo, then the alto follows. After the tenor recitative, the bass aria “In der Welt habt ihr Angst” is accompanied by an ostenato-style basso continuo with a chromatic scale. The tenor aria “Ich will leiden, ich will schweigen” is a gentle piece written in pastoral rhythm and accompanied by a string ensemble. The piece concludes with the chorale “Muß ich sein betrübet?”. #baroque #bach #cantata #片山俊幸
