Bach: Cantata No. 97 “In allen meinen Taten” / Nikolaus Harnoncourt

Bach: Cantata No. 97 “In allen meinen Taten” / Nikolaus Harnoncourt

Cantata from the late Leipzig period. The piece opens with “In allen meinen Taten” a chorale fantasy in a style of the French overture. Accompanied by two oboes, bassoons, and strings, the soprano sings a cantus firmus, while the other voices add free melodies. The second movement is the bass aria “Nichts ist es spat und frühe” accompanied only by basso continuo. The basso continuo first presents the impressive melody, and then the bass takes over in the same key. After the tenor recitative, the tenor aria “Ich traue seiner Gnaden” is sung by the solo violin obbligato. The aria begins with a brilliant introduction including double stops of about 10 bars, reminiscent of Leclair’s violin sonata. What a fascinating aria. Following the alto recitative acompagnato, alto sings the aria “Leg ich mich späte nieder” in the lower register of the string ensemble with a subdued accompaniment. The soprano and bass duet aria “Hat er es denn beschlossen” is followed by the soprano aria “Ich hab mich ihm ergeben” with two oboes in obbligato. The cantata closes with the chorale “So sei nun, Seele, deine”. #baroque #bach #cantata #片山俊幸 https://excelkobo.net/bachwerke/archive/BWV0097.pdf
