Bach: Cantata No. 168 “Tue Rechnung! Donnerwort” / Nikolaus Harnoncourt
Cantata with a script by Salomon Franck based on the 16th chapter of the Gospel of Luke. The first piece is the bass aria “Tue Rechnung! Donnerwort” with the intense strings in dotted notes. The tenor recitative is followed by the tenor aria “Kapital und Interessen” with oboe d’amore in unison and basso continuo. The aria is sung “Capital and profits, debts great and small, must be offset once”. After the bass recitative, the soprano and alto duet aria “Herz, zerreiß des Mammons Kette” is sung. This humorous piece starts with a jumping bass note. The boy soprano Helmut Wittek and boy alto Panajotis Iconomou of the Tölzer Knabenchor play a major role in the recording of these times. The final chorale, “Stärk mich mit deinem Freudengeist” closes the cantata quietly. #baroque #bach #cantata #片山俊幸
