Powell made studio recordings with Ray Brown, Curly Russell, Max Roach, and others from 1949 to 1950. This was the heyday of bebop. Along with Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Dexter Gordon, Thelonious Monk, and others, the genius pianist Bud Powell dominated the jazz world with his brilliant improvisations.
