Recorded live at the 2001 Montreux Jazz Festival. Gary Peacock on bass, Jack DeJohnette on drums. The standard tunes are played in an authentic and crisp manner. “My Foolish Heart” begins with an improvisation, and the theme finally appears toward the end of the song, which is a surprise. Gary Peacock’s long solo in “What’s New” is a highlight. The tense “interplay” in “Straight No Chaser” is the climax of the record. Totally, over all, this is a record that presents a “complete” piano trio format, while at the same time encompassing a variety of jazz styles. #jazz #片山俊幸
