Giustini: 12 Sonatas / Kikuko Ogura (fortepiano)

Lodovico Giustini was born in 1685, which means he was of the same generation as Bach, Händel, and Domenico Scarlatti. He is famous as the composer who wrote the first piano sonata in history. His piano sonatas are sonatas or dance suites in the same key, consisting of four or five movements, which is different from Scarlatti’s sonatas, but their taste is close to Scarlatti’s. The title clearly says “Cimbalo de piano e forte”, and the score has carefully written dynamics.
