Arias by Bach, Handel, and Mozart / Aksel Rykkvin

Arias by Bach, Handel, and Mozart / Aksel Rykkvin
I wish Aksel Rykkvin would have left us with more Bach recordings. Preferably the complete cantatas for soprano solo. However, very few are available to listen to now. Let’s listen to the CD at any rate. The first aria of Cantata No. 51, “Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen”. This is one of the few Bach arias that calls for coloratura. It is wonderful. I wonder why the entire work, including the Alleluja, was not recorded? The second is the delightful aria “Mein Gläubiges Herze” from Cantata No. 68, “Also hat Gott die Welt geliebt”. In addition, there are a total of six other Bach pieces in the collection. “Ich Folge Dir Gleichfalls” from the John Passion, “Bist du bei mir” from Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach, the aria “Quia respexit humilitatem” from the Magnificat, and the aria”Angenehmer Zephyrus” from cantata 205″Zerreißet, zersprenget, zertrümmertdie Gruft”. Other arias include Handel’s “Lascia ch’io pianga” and other familiar arias, as well as Cherubino’s aria from Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro” and “Alleluja” from “Exsultate, jubilate”. By the way Aksel Rykkvin is currently active as a baritone singer. #baroque #bach #handel #boysoprano #treble #片山俊幸
