Bach: Cantata No. 145 “Ich lebe, mein Herze, zu deinem Ergötzen” / Nikolaus Harnoncourt

Bach: Cantata No. 145 “Ich lebe, mein Herze, zu deinem Ergötzen” / Nikolaus Harnoncourt
Cantata written for Easter Tuesday, April 19, 1729. The first two movements (chorale by Caspar Neumann and chorus by Georg Philipp Telemann) were added after Bach’s death and are now mostly omitted, but the recording by the “J.S.Bach-Stiftung” seems to play them as they are. Harnoncourt also recorded only the third and following pieces. The first aria “Ich lebe, mein Herze, zu deinem Ergötzen” is a double aria with soprano (soul) and tenor (Jesus). The tenor recitative is followed by the bass aria “Merke, mein Herze, beständig nur dies”. The highest register of the flauto traverso appears here. It may be as difficult as the obbligato in Cantata No. 8. The player is Leopold Stastny. The soprano recitative is followed by the chorale “Drum wir auch billig fröhlich sein” to celebrate the resurrection and close the piece. #baroque #bach #cantata #片山俊幸
