Bach: Cantata No. 32 “Liebster Jesu, mein Verlangen” / Gustav Leonhardt
The piece begins with the soprano aria “Liebster Jesu, mein Verlangen”. The oboe obbligato at the beginning is so beautiful that I cannot stop crying. The soprano Walter Gampert (Tölzer Knabenchor) also sings very beautifully. The entire piece is written in the form of a dialogue between Jesus (bass) and the soul (soprano). Following the bass recitative, the bass aria “Hier, in meines Vaters Stätte” has a very warm and tender melody on the violin that, together with Max van Egmont’s singing, seems to touch my heart. The following Recitative Acompagnato tells the story of the conversation between Jesus and the soul. The following aria, “Nun verschwinden alle Plagen,” is a truly joyful duet between the soul and Jesus, accompanied by oboe, string orchestra, and basso continuo. The piece concludes with the chorale “Mein Gott, öffne mir die Pforten” (Mein Gott, öffne mir die Pforten). #baroque #bach #cantata #片山俊幸
