Charpentier, Lully, Delalande: Te Deum / Le Poème Harmonique and others
The “three great composers” of the Baroque period who wrote the Te Deum were Marc-Antoine Charpentier, Jean-Baptiste Lully, and Michel-Richard Delalande. To these I can add Jan Dismas Zelenka.
The best CD is performed by Le Poème Harmonique conducted by Vincent Dumestre, which gives us two pieces by Charpentier and Lully together. And also Lalande’s Te Deum by the same performances. So these two CDs offer all of the above.
Another good CD of Charpentier’s Te Deum is by Marc Minkowski. The famous “Messe de Minuit” is coupled to it.
