“Boy Soprano” / Mikey Robinson
My hopes for the early music industry: If a genius boy soprano emerges, I want him to record Bach’s Cantatas No. 51 and No. 199 before his voice breaks down. Schumann and Debussy are fine, too, but his time to shine is very short. I want him to be fully supported by any serious early music orchestra (preferably one with a member who can play the natural trumpet). And I want him to leave behind a “historic masterpiece”. Early music fans all over the world will be eagerly awaiting a boy soprano’s performance of these two soprano solo cantatas by Bach. Record companies have made fatal mistakes in the past, such as allowing Aksel Rykkvin to sing only the first movement unfortunately, thus failing to recreate Bach’s greatest work fully in the conditions Bach intended.
Why didn’t they have him sing the whole of the piece?
Fortunately, now there is the famous trumpeter Jean-François Madeuf to whom Bach intend as an instrumentalist. However, a talented boy soprano only comes around once every ten years, and with only a few years of training and recording time. If any record company could achieve this, their achievement would be eternally celebrated. #boysoprano #baroque #bach #片山俊幸
