Cantata with text by Christiana Mariana von Ziegler, a female poet from Leipzig. Bach composed nine cantatas with her lyrics. The following is a list of them, which were composed one after another from April 22, 1725 to May 27, 1725.
BWV 128 “Auf Christi Himmelfahrt allein”

The first piece is the bass aria “Es ist euch gut, daß ich hingehe” a beautiful piece with a flowing melody played by the oboe d’amore and a modest strings’ accompaniment. The tenor aria “Mich kann kein Zweifel stören” followed, sung with obbligato by the solo violin. The tenor recitative is followed by the choral piece “Wenn aber jener, der Geist der Wahrheit kommen wird” which begins with a fugue theme, starting with the bass. It is not a long piece, but it is a typical Bach work in which three themes are developed one after another, and they come together at the end of the piece. Next is the alto aria “Was mein Herz von dir begehrt” which is accompanied by a melodical string ensemble and has the impressive eighth-note general pauses between the phrases. The cantata ends with the chorale “Dein Geist, den Gott von Himmel gibt”.
