About Bach’s Menuet

About Bach’s Menuet
The most famous Bach menuet is the G major menuet from “Anna Magdalena Bach’s Music Book”. It is the original of The Supremes’ “Lover’s Concerto” but it is known to have been written not by Bach but by Christian Petzold nowadays (Fig. 1).
“Anna Magdalena Bach’s music book” contains several other lovely menuets (Fig. 2). The orchestral suites include two menuets each in Nos. 1 and 4 and one in No. 2 (Figures 3-7). There are countless menuets in the suite works for clavier, but here I will introduce the menuets of French Suites Nos. 1 and 2 (Figs. 8-10). #baroque #bach #menuet #片山俊幸
