Mera sings Bach / Yosikazu Mera, Bach Collegium Japan

This is a CD by Yosikazu Mera featuring a collection of Bach arias. From the first aria, “Von den Stricken meiner Sunden” from the John Passion, one is completely drawn into his world. 11 songs from cantatas and Christmas oratorios follow from the second. Mera’s singing was at its peak that time, both technically and spiritually. The last song is “Es ist vollbracht!” from the John Passion, which is sung at a slow tempo, emotionally and with gentle. I would also like to add that the Bach Collegium Japan’s performance, especially the obbligato of the oboe group, is very wonderful on this CD. #baroque #bach #片山俊幸
