Bach: Cantata No. 174 “Ich liebe den Höchsten von ganzem Gemüte” / Nikolaus Harnoncourt
The opening Sinfonia is reinforced of the Brandenburg Concerto No. 3’s first movement with two cornos da caccia, two oboes, and a taille (tenor oboe in F) which change in sound tone color is attempted. The first aria is “Ich liebe den Höchsten von ganzem Gemüte” in alto, with a beautiful siciliano melody played by the two oboes. The solo is sung by Chistian Immler of the Tölzer Knabenchor. The tenor recitative is followed by the bass aria “Greifet zu, faßt das Heil”. The strings were in unison in a lively obbligato. The cantata ends with the chorale “Herzlich lieb hab ich dich, o Herr” quietly. #baroque #bach #cantata #片山俊幸
