Alleluia / Julia Lezhneva

This is a disc where you can hear the wonderful coloratura of Lezhneva. The CD is a collection of solo motets by Vivaldi, Handel, Porpora, and Mozart. She says her interest in Baroque music began at the age of 12 when she heard Cecilia Bartoli’s “Vivaldi Album.” https://www.facebook.com/groups/MusicaBarocca/posts/1176149159849164 /

The album opens with the furious Vivaldi aria “In furore iustissimae irae. Handel’s “Saeviat tellus inter rigores,” Porpora’s “In caelo stelle clare,” and close with Mozart’s “Exsultate, jubilate”. All the pieces end with the movement “Alleluja,” the title of the album. Probably all the pieces were written for the castrato. All of the pieces could be described as “concertos for voice,” with plenty of use of high register and coloratura techniques. #baroque #lezhneva #片山俊幸
