Bach: Cantata No. 49 “Ich geh und suche mit Verlangen” / Nikolaus Harnoncourt

Bach: Cantata No. 49 “Ich geh und suche mit Verlangen” / Nikolaus Harnoncourt
The opening Sinfonia is practically an organ concerto, but the oboe d’amore is layered in unison with the violin I for almost the entire piece, giving it a distinctive tone. The first aria is “Ich geh und suche mit Verlangen” in bass. The first aria is “Ich geh und suche mit Verlangen,” a very typical of Bach aria with an obbligato played by the right hand of the organ. The following recitative is a dialogue between the soprano (soul) and the bass (Jesus). It ends almost like an aria with an arioso in between. The soprano aria “Ich bin herrlich, ich bin schön” is sung by an oboe d’amore and cello piccolo obbligato, full of happiness. After the dialogue recitative again, the duet aria “Dich hab ich je und je geliebet” is sung by the string ensemble and oboe d’amore with organ obbligato, and the cantata ends. It is a wonderful cantata, sung by “Wiener Sängerknaben” Peter Jelosits (boy soprano) and bass Ruud van der Meer. #baroque #bach #cantata #片山俊幸
