Goldberg Variations / Keith Jarrett
Keith Jarrett is well known for his Bach performances. His most famous work is the “Goldtberg Variations”. His interpretation of Bach is orthodox and free from any eccentricities. He plays each note with great care, without the agogic that is so common in usual performance of Bach’s music. As was the case in the French Suite, it is clear that he has the harpsichord, an ancient instrument, completely under his control as a means of expression. Jacques Loussier, the Swingle Singers, John Lewis, and others have attempted to incorporate Bach into their music in the past, but Keith differs from them in that he takes up Bach authentically as it is. #baroque #bach #片山俊幸
