Bach: Cantata No. 151 “Süßer Trost, mein Jesus kömmt” / Gustav Leonhardt
This Christmas-themed cantata was first performed on December 27,1725. The first piece, the soprano aria “Süßer Trost, mein Jesus kömmt” is a very charming and heartwarming pastorale with an decorative melody on the flute, of which the first section is repeated after a lively middle section. The flute player seems to be either by Ricardo Kanji or Walter van Hauwe. After the bass recitative, the alto aria “In Jesu Demut kann ich Trost” is performed by two oboes d’amore, violins I and II, and viola in unison, accompanied a very typical of Bach melody. After the tenor recitative, the piece closes with the chorale “Heut schleußt er wieder auf die Tür”. #baroque #bach #cantata #片山俊幸
