Queen of Baroque / Cecilia Bartoli

Queen of Baroque / Cecilia Bartoli
All of Cecilia Bartoli’s recordings are good, but this CD is one of her best. Her co-stars, including Philippe Jaroussky and Il Giardino Armonico, are also very attractive. The emotional performances of Handel’s “Lascia ch’io pianga” and “Ombra maifu” and Scarlatti’s “Il Sedecia, re di Gerusalemme” are deeply moving. She is also one of the rare singers who can sing Riccardo Broschi’s superbly crafted songs (these were of course written for his brother Farinelli, the castrato) to perfection. The coloratura in Vivaldi’s “Agitata da due venti” is also nothing short of wonderful. Anyway, this is a CD with a lot to listen to. #baroque #bartoli #片山俊幸
