Bach: Cantata No. 152 “Tritt auf die Glaubensbahn” / Nikolaus Harnoncourt
A work with Salomon Franck from the Weimar period. The piece begins with a concerto for recorder, oboe, viola d’amore, viola da gamba, and basso continuo. After a short adagio introduction, a fugue follows. The first aria, the words of Jesus “Tritt auf die Glaubensbahn” (Step upon the path of faith) is sung by bass with oboe obbligato. Following the bass recitative is the aria “Stein, der über alle Schätze” (The Stone above all Treasures) by soprano (soul), accompanied by the recorder and viola d’amore. After a recitative by bass, the piece closes with a dialogue duet sung by bass and soprano “Wie soll ich dich, Liebster der Seelen, umfassen?” (How shall I embrace you, dearest of souls?) with accompaniment by all solo instruments in unison. #baroque #bach #cantata #片山俊幸
