Bach: Cantata No. 197 “Gott ist unsre Zuversicht” / Gustav Leonhardt

Bach: Cantata No. 197 “Gott ist unsre Zuversicht” / Gustav Leonhardt
This piece is composed of three trumpets, timpani, two oboes, string ensemble and basso continuo in a festive arrangement. The opening “Gott ist unsre Zuversicht” is a da capo piece with an instrumental ritornello followed by a fugue sung by the chorus. Following a bass recitative, the alto aria “Schläfert allen Sorgenkummer” is sung to the accompaniment of strings and oboe d’amore. After a flowing ritornello in 3/4 time in the first half, the middle section changes to 4/4 time, and then returns to 3/4 time at the end. The soloist is René Jacobs. After the bass recitative accompagna, the chorale “Du süße Lieb, schenk uns deine Gunst” ends the first part.
The second part begins with the bass aria “O du angenehmes Paar”. It is accompanied by oboe and muted strings, with a bassoon obbligato. It is a beautiful piece with a rich sound in the lower registers. The bass solo is Harry van der Kamp. After the soprano recitative and arioso, the soprano aria “Vergnügen und Lust” is sung with solo violin and two oboes d’amore. It is also a very beautiful piece with a Sicilian rhythm, and is beautifully sung by Jan Patrick o’Farell of Knabenchor Hanover. After the bass recitative accompaniment, the chorale “So wandelt froh auf Gottes Wegen” is sung, and the cantata closes. #baroque #bach #cantata #片山俊幸 https://excelkobo.net/bachwerke/archive/BWV0197.pdf
