Heinrich Schütz: Geistliche Chormusik / Tölzer Knabenchor
Schütz published in Dresden in 1648 a collection of pieces classified as “motets”. The genre of motet tradition continued 100 years later with Bach. Written in five to seven voices, each voice can be substituted by an instrument or layered with a voice part. The performance by the soloists of the Tölzor Knabenchor are pure and clear to the utmost. Zink, sackbut, organ and the others are used as accompaniment instruments, showing the strong influence of Giovanni Gabrieli’s compositional method. #baroque #schutz #片山俊幸
