Pergolesi: La serva padrona / Vito Clemente, Tommaso Traetta Chamber Orchestra, et al.
In the analog era, I listened to the record by Maddalena Bonifaccio, Siegmund Nimsgern and the Collegium Aureum until it’s worn out , but today I would like to introduce four recent recordings.
——————————
(1) Tommaso Traetta Chamber Orchestra, Antonietta Cozzolli and Michele Govi, Vito Clemente conductor: I think this is a good performance comparable to the Collegium Aureum disc mentioned at the beginning of this article. The singing of Antonietta Cozzolli and Michel Govi is also somewhat similar to Bonifaccio and Nimsgern. The CD includes Francesco Mancini’s “Colombina e Pernicone” too.

(2) Ensemble Baroque de Nice, Isabelle Poulenard, Philippe Cantor, Gilbert Bezzina conductor: The tempo of the piece is fast. The cello is used in the Recitatif Secco, which is usually played only with the harpsichord. Also, the Sinfonia from the opera “Olympiad” is substituted as an overture.

(3) Ensemble Regia Accademia, Federica Zanello, Michele Govi, Marco Dallara conductor: This performance is also quite good. Michele Govi, who also sang Ubert in the Clemente disc, gives a good performance here too. As a side note, Vespone, who plays the silent role, makes a laughing sound in the middle of the first recitative.

(4) Fanzago Baroque Ensemble, Marina Zyatkova, Carlo Torriani, and Vincenzo Bianco conduct: This performance pulls along at a fast tempo. Personally, however, I am concerned about Carlo Torriani’s fine vibrato. In this CD, too, the cello is used in the recitative. The CD also includes the Violin Sonata and other pieces as extras at the end of the piece. #baroque #pergolesi #片山俊幸
