Antonio Vivaldi / Cecilia Bartoli, Jean-Christophe Spinosi

Antonio Vivaldi / Cecilia Bartoli, Jean-Christophe Spinosi
More than 20 years after her last recording of Vivaldi numbers, Bartoli’s voice is even more brilliant on this CD . His coloratura seems to have been further refined. The interplay between Bartoli and the soloists of the Ensemble Matheus, conducted by Jean-Christophe Spinosi, is the highlight of this CD. Bartoli’s performance is already very devilish from the first piece “Se lento ancora il fulmine” of the opera “Algrippo”. The second piece is “Sol da te, mio dolce amore” with flutist Jean-Marc Goujon. Personally, I think this performance is the highlight of the album. Of course, I also like “Quell’augellin che canta” and “Sovvente il sole” the collaboration with the violin, and the collaboration with the trumpet on “Combatta un gentil cor”.
I confess that I don’t like Vivaldi’s concertos because they are obviously shoddy and lazy, even if there are exceptions, but I have always thought that his vocal music, by contrast, is often wonderful for some reason. Violin and oboe are used more effectively as accompaniment instruments in arias than in concertos, and I feel that they are far more inspired. #baroque #bartoli #片山俊幸
