The album is titled “Sweet Duel”, Cecilia Bartoli singing baroque opera arias featuring cellist Sol Gabetta. The album features music by composers such as Caldara, Albinoni, Gabrieli, Vivaldi, Handel, and Porpora. The mezzo-soprano and cello compositions are surprisingly rare, and there are three pieces (two by Caldara and one by Porpora) that are said to be the world’s first recordings of such compositions. The cello concerto by Luigi Boccherini is placed at the end as a kind of “filler”, but it seems superfluous.
