Bach: Cantata No. 55 “Ich armer Mensch, ich Sundenknecht” / Gustav Leonhardt
This is a solo cantata for tenor. The performance by Kurt Equiluz is very good. The first aria is “Ich armer Mensch, ich Sundenknecht”. It begins tragically with flauto traverso, oboe d’amore and violin I and II obbligato. After the recitative, the aria “Erbarme Dich” is played by Frans Brüggen with a tragic melody of flauto traverso obbligato. Needless to say, this is one of my favorite performances in the Complete Bach Cantata Collection. This is followed by a recitative with strings and concludes with a chorale in four voices. #baroque #bach #cantata #片山俊幸
