Bach: Cantata No. 115 “Mache dich, mein Geist, bereit” / Nikolaus Harnoncourt
The fourth aria, “Bete aber auch dabei” is the most charming of the cantata. Leopold Stastny seemed to be out of condition, and there are many failing sound. And that’s not all. The biggest problem was the way he played the “Schleifer” ornament on the fourth beat of the bar. Stastny plays the Schleifer as a “transitional note” completely. The cello-piccolo player also plays it in a similar way, but without any sense of direction. In the end, only the boy’s soprano sing the Schleifer correctly “on the beat”. In any case, there is nothing good about this performance. As this is one of my favorite arias, I can’t help but wish that Brüggen had played it. #baroque #bach #cantata #片山俊幸
