Bach: Cantata No. 100 “Was Gott tut, das ist wohlgetan” / Gustav Leonhardt
This cantata is composed in the style “chorale cantata”. The first chorale is festively orchestrated with two horns, timpani, flauto traverso, oboe d’amore, string orchestra and basso continuo. The second piece is the duett aria sung by alto and tenor over a walking bass. The third aria is for soprano with a flauto-traverso obbligato. The flowing traverso played by Frans Brüggen is wonderful on this piece. The fourth song is a bass aria, accompanied by a string orchestra. The fifth piece is an alto aria with oboe d’amore in obbligato. The each lyrics of the six movements of this cantata are composed by verses 1 through 6 of the chorale, the first line of which is the same for all. The final chorale is ended festively with the same orchestration as the first chorale. Only the first half of the piece is repeated. #baroque #bach #cantata #片山俊幸
