Bach: Cantata No. 82 “Ich habe genug” / Nikolaus Harnoncourt
This is a solo cantata for bass, sung by Philippe Huttenlocher in the complete Bach cantatas. The first aria, which begins with a charming obbligato by the oboe, expresses the “longing for death”. The recitative of the second piece and the aria “Schlummert ein, ihr matten Augen” of the third piece are transcribed in the “Little Music Book of Anna Magdalena Bach”, but somehow there are only a few bars of basso continuo in the aria written (But looking closely, see that it is written all on page 111). In the cantata, the oboe da caccia plays the obbligato, and the occasional fermatas are impressive. There is also a soprano version of this cantata, in which the obbligato is replaced by a traverso.
