Bach: Cantata No. 69a, No. 69 “Lobe den Herrn, meine Seele” / Nikolaus Harnoncourt
An early version of BWV 69a (1723) and a later version of BWV 69 (1727) exist, with some changes in instrumentation and text. The piece opens with the chorus “Lobe den Herrn, meine Seele” accompanied by three trumpets and timpani. After the soprano recitative, the alto aria “Meine Seele, auf, erzähle” is sung by oboe and violin obbligato; in the BWV69 version, the aria is sung by tenor with oboe da caccia and recorder. Following the tenor accompanied recitative, the bass aria “Mein Erlöser und Erhalter” is sung with oboe d’amore, strings and fagotto obbligato. The piece concludes with the chorale “Es danke, Gott, und lobe dich”. #baroque #bach #cantata #片山俊幸
