First performed on August 15, 1723. The opening chorus, “Lobe den Herrn, meine Seele” is a festive piece for three trumpets and timpani, three oboes and bassoon, string orchestra, and basso continuo. Following the instrumental introduction, the chorus begins homophonic and turn into a fugue. The piece ends with a homophonic section again. The soprano recitative is followed by the tenor aria “Meine Seele, auf, erzähle”. The accompanying instruments are recorder and oboe da caccia, and the melody is a delightful da capo aria in three beats and triplets. The alto recitative accompaniment is followed by the bass aria “Mein Erlöser und Erhalter”. Accompanied by oboe d’amore and string ensemble, the aria is homophonic throughout. It ends with the chorale “Was Gott tut, das ist wohlgetan, darbei will ich verbleiben”. The cantata was performed again around 1727, but with a different instrumentation for the aria and a different final chorale. #baroque #bach #cantata #片山俊幸 https://excelkobo.net/bachwerke/archive/BWV0069a.pdf
