Bach Flute Works / Marc Hantai, Pierre Hantai, Jerome Hantai
These are discs performed by the Hantai brothers. The style in which Marc Hantai hold his instrument not horizontally but in an almost 45-degree position is characteristic of his style. This angle is probably the best for his embouchure. The sound produced in this way is truly clear and powerful. Marc Hantai’s traverso probably surpasses his teacher Bart Kuijken in its power; there are recordings from 1998 and 2016, and on the first CD, the entire first movement of the A major sonata (the last 46 bars are lost) is omitted, but on the second one the complemented version is played. If I remember correctly, this completion is by Gustav Leonhardt. It supose to be the same score used in the Frans Brüggen’s recording. #baroque #bach #片山俊幸
