This CD contains cantatas from Bach’s Weimar period (1708-1717). 1708 Bach became court organist and court musician to Duke Wilhelm Ernst, Lord of Saxony-Weimar. In Weimar, his first son Wilhelm Friedemann and his second son Carl Philipp Emanuel were born. It was during this period that the famous Dresden anecdote with Louis Marchand, the prolific arrangements of concertos by Vivaldi and others, and many cantata works with texts by the poet Salomon Franck were written. In BWV 18 and BWV 61, Emma Kirkby sings the aria, in BWV 12 and BWV161, Michael Chance sings the aria. #baroque #bach #cantata #片山俊幸
