Byrd: Masses for 3, 4, and 5 Voices / Tallis Scholars

Byrd’s religious works include the Great Service for the Church of England, masses and motets for Catholics, but he himself seems to have been a Catholic. The three, four, and five voice masses are the best of them. This performance by the Tallis Scholars is a masterpiece, filled with pure harmony.
