Bach: Brandenburg Concertos / La Petite Bande / Bach Collegium Japan

There is only one problem regarding the historicity of these concertos. It is “whether or not the natural trumpet is used” in the second concerto. At the moment, there are only two types of discs that have cleared that point. I interpret the definition of natural trumpet as follows: “Natural trumpet is a trumpet that is played with the left arm on the waist.” Because the left arm, which doesn’t need to cover the finger holes, is always put on the waist. That style is what the trumpet, the king of musical instruments, looks like. Gustav Leonhardt says “Almost all baroque trumpeters make holes to make life easier; that should not happen”. #baroque #bach #片山俊幸
