Bach: Cantata No. 183 “Sie werden euch in den Bann tunt” / Nikolaus Harnoncourt
The first bass recitative is accompanied by two oboes d’amore and two oboes dacaccia, which almost sounds like organ reeds pipes. The tenor aria “Ich fürchte nicht des Todes Schrecken” is a charming typical of Bach piece with a cello-piccolo obbligato. An alto recitatif with 2 oboes d’amore, 2 oboes dacaccia and accompanied by string chords follows. The soprano aria “Höchster Tröster, Heilger Geist” is a joyful piece with unison by the oboes dacaccia and string accompaniment. The cantata closes with the chorale “Du bist ein Geist, der lehret”.
