“Sopranista” / Samuel Mariño
Is he a castrato or a sopranista? It doesn’t matter. All that can be said is that he is without doubt one of the finest performers of baroque works written for “castrato”. This young artist has a promising future ahead of him. His debut CD of Handel and Gluck astonished us with his superb technique. This is the second CD he has recorded. It begins with “Cherubino’s Aria” by Mozart. The following Gluck’s “Che farò senza Euridice?” is sung in the castrato register, as in the original (Viennese version). In 1774, Gluck changed the role to a tenor voice for the Paris production. #baroque #sopranista #片山俊幸
