Forqueray Unchained / Andre Lislevand, Jadran Duncumb and Paola Erdas
I was totally amazed by this violist. No, not only the viol, but also the players who play with him (to be more precise, theorbo player Jadran Duncumb) were astonishing. Their ensemble is both aggressive and challenging at the same time. I have never heard Forqueray’s superbly composed “Jupiter” played with such ease, or, for that matter, with the tempo and dynamism it should be played with essentially. That’s right, Forqueray composed this piece as it should be played in this way. In addition to Forqueray’s work, this CD includes also other well-chosen pieces by Marais, de Visee, Louis Couperin, and others, interspersed with thoughtful direction. #baroque #forqueray #片山俊幸
