Telemann: Tafelmusik / Musica Antiqua Köln
Telemann was a shrewd businessman who never neglected to book and publish his own works. In this way, he spread his works all over Europe. Handel, who lived in London, also purchased a collection of Tafelmusik pieces and borrowed them for his own works. The collection consists of three cycles: French overture – quartet – concerto – trio – solo – finale. The first solo in the second cycle, Quartet in D minor, is overwhelmingly played on the recorder, but I prefer it played on the bassoon. The recorder is also used in this CD. Other pieces in Traverso’s repertoire include Quartet in G major, Solo Sonata in B minor, Trio Sonata in E minor and D major, Overture in E minor, and Concerto in A major. All of these pieces are very easy to play and are popular with amateur traverso players. #baroque #telemann #片山俊幸
