Telemann: Tafelmusik / Freiburg Baroque Orchestra
I have played this collection of pieces by Telemann many times, and they are all very well written and never boring. For example, in the Trio Sonata in E minor for flute and oboe, the intertwining of the individual voices in a counterpoint manner is a real pleasure to play, and the final movement of the Quartet in D minor has a rhythmic feel that is confortable. The other chamber music, overtures, solos, and concertos are also a joy to play again and again, with Telemann’s craftsmanship so vibrantly evident. In my opinion, this new recording by the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra is much superior to anything else that has recorded before. The basso continuo is varied with the use of theorbo at key points (for example flute solo in B minor), which keeps it interesting. #baroque #telemann #片山俊幸
